    Question

    does the new code let you splice in the panel?I have a copy of the code changes and it sounds like you can.

    Yes, there was a change that permits splices in an existing panelboard providing the total cross-sectional area of the wires and connectors does not exceed 75% of the wiring space. 12-3034(2,ii)

    This is difficult to measure, so basically, it is up to the inspector.

    Does the rule say you can splice in a panel as in a JB? Or just splice onto existing wires to lenghten them within the panel?

    The exact wording of the code (12-3034 (2)(a)) is "....junction boxes..."
